Ahh...the question everyone
asks! Typically I tell people: "You
know, the flag twirlers that you see with the
marching band at half time?" It is time to
come up with a more concise answer.
There is a great quote that I
heard somewhere, "To those who understand, no
explanation is needed. To those who do not
understand, no explanation is possible." And
it is true to some extent.
More generally, Color guard
uses flags, along with other equipment to bring
color and movement to a song that the marching
band produces. This is all typically done on
a football field and requires dedication, some
musical skill, and time.
