WGI sets the standard for most
Winter Guard and Winter Drumline judging
criteria. Below are a list of what we call
"Captions" which are the criteria for
which the scores are based.
General
Effect - This caption encompasses
all of the elements of the show i.e. Musicality,
Movement, Concept, Equipment, Entertainment.
Ensemble
Analysis -
Here, the judges look
at the performers i.e. the technical and
expressive achievement along with body, equipment,
and staging.
Equipment
- Depth, Range, and difficulty of Equipment tosses
and moves. They are credited by the degree of
achievement of the material they are performing..
Movement
- Depth,
Range, and difficulty of Body
Movement/Dance. They are judged based on the
"body" element of the choreography and
