History of Color Guard:
The
traditional color guard bore the national flag and
marched into battle with soldiers, along with a
drummer or a few drummers to keep all the soldiers
in step as they marched.
As marching bands
became more privatized, the color guard added the
“pizzaz” to the music that the band was playing.
Now, it has turned into a recognized sport as it
is called “The Sport of the Arts”.
More generally, color guard
and marching band in recent years has seen
tremendous growth and development. All kinds of
shows at this very moment are being put onto the
football field. The 2006 marching season is
under way and stress levels begin to rise along
with the precious gift of making and portraying
music.
